So this is kind of a long segment of an episode of a show called Lift Karade from India but it's kinda funny (and sad) at the same time. The premise of the show is that people compete to be the #1 fan of a famous actor, actress or celebrity in India and in return he or she gets to meet said person. But before you become the #1 fan, you have to make it to the finals which consist of the three top selected people engaging in another competition where they have to complete a task and earn money. Whoever makes the most money wins.

Amitabh episode segment

My sister was telling me about this specific episode this morning and about the second place winner (or loser), whose name is Bhagwan ji and honestly, I couldn't stop laughing. I'm not trying to be mean but did he not say "Madame ji, meri zindagi khatham ho gayi hai" when he found out he wasn't going to meet the good old A. And then when he's presented with the second place gift of a watch autographed by Amitabh, he says "mein gift ke saath kya karoonga! Oonka gift oopar se aa raha hai!" Oh my god.

What bothers me specifically about this episode is that these people have made Amitabh Bhachan into a God. They WORSHIP him. They seriously want to meet him in order to get his blessings. The first place winner didn't wear shoes for fifteen years in the hopes that he would meet Amitabh and he even made an Amitabh temple. This is too extreme.

I also think it's ridiculous that Amitabh calls people who commit suicide 'kaayars.' That is so ridiculous. Where's your compassion A.

But I still like Amitabh.....sort of.
